The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a newly recruited police constable, David Friday, and a serving soldier, Harmless Victor, for alleged involvement in armed theft.
Briefing newsmen on the command headquarters on Thursday January 21, the State Police Commissioner, Bolaji Salami, mentioned the police constable is hooked up to Olofin Police Station in Idanre native authorities space of the state whereas the soldier is serving with the 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigeria Military, Owena Cantonment, Akure.
The CP mentioned the duo was arrested at Ojadale junction in Idanre the place they attacked, robbed and disposed some individuals of their property and cash.
The 2 suspects have been reportedly armed with a jackknife and different harmful weapons whereas some objects have been reportedly stolen from their victims have been discovered on them.
Among the objects recovered from them embody N6,000, one Itel cellphone valued at N8500, 30 litres of petrol and the sum of N125,000.
“He was being tried for that bike theft when he was caught conspiring with a soldier to rob some individuals with a dagger. We paraded them and the victims recognized them,” Salami mentioned.
“They attacked and robbed the next individuals, Akinmodun Akinleye and Adeyeye Sesan of their properties which embody money sum of Six Thousand Naira Solely (?6,000.00), one Itel cellphone valued Eight Thousand 5 Hundred Naira Solely(?8,500.00), 30 litres of petrol and money of 100 and Twenty 5 Thousand (N125,000.00)”
