The Nigerian navy will quickly recruit 8000 troopers for counter-terrorism and anti-banditry campaigns.
Senator Ali Ndume (APC-Borno), Chairman, Senate Committee on Nigerian Military, made the disclosure to reporters on Monday in Maiduguri.
Ndume expressed hope that in 2021, navy counter-terrorism operations would curtail terror actions and different safety challenges.
“As an alternative of the traditional recruitment of 4,000 or 6,000 troopers at a time, we’ve requested them (the navy) to recruit about 8,000 troopers.
“The brand new recruits are present process coaching in Zaria and Falgori with the intention to beef up the variety of the troops,” the lawmaker stated.
Ndume added that the Nigerian Military had taken supply of extra subtle tools for its operations.
The Senator stated the price range for Operation Lafiya Dole’s Theatre Command has been elevated to N100billion in 2021 from about N75billion in 2020.
He lauded the navy for standing in defence of the nation regardless of challenges.
